Been wondering about trends recently.
Seems I've written a poem
and that's stoked the fires of others
but they never said "come on in!"

For I was already there. You'd think
there might be a response, or two
which would be simple. Complementary.
No. Some write their own and others in lieu

of what I - sometimes - look for
write something thoughtful and considered.
That'd be great but my poem was already
considered. Full, the snake slithered

away. I remember smiling at "well done!"s
after I performed a poem live one night.
The clapping's one of the reasons
that I love going to open mics

alongside that I get to see other locals perform
and give them the feedback that I - sometimes -
desperately need. Being an artist is freeing
and debilitating. Especially one that rhymes

but anywho; I'm inconsistent and I'm happy
with that. Still doesn't change the fact
that I love reading, writing, feedback and nil
but more often than not, I want others to write back.
