Is there a 'right way'?

I would venture that we are learning as we go -
and hopefully watching and learning from others.

As long as endpoints are easily navigable, I suppose that 
it is whatever is comfortable/convenient to the author.

At some point there could be some convergence around the best ideas.

Resident samhunter's spot is a good example of clear and easy navigation, using individual files, 
including consistent headers and breadcrumb type labels in the blog section.
